Our initiatives.

Action at the grassroots, where the need is the greatest.

Provides bicycles to students, especially girls, to improve school attendance and academic performance. Includes HIV/AIDS awareness during distribution events.

Distributed 682 buffalo bicycles in 23 schools in Busia County, improving school attendance and academic outcomes while promoting HIV/AIDS awareness through integrated education sessions 

 Addresses Menstrual hygiene challenges by providing sanitary ware, MHM infrastructure, and MHM workshop

 Constructed dedicated fully equipped MHM facilities at Our Lady of Mercy Girls Secondary School and St. Joseph's Musokoto Mixed secondary school, providing girls with access to proper sanitation facilities and ensuring uninterrupted education during menstruation.

Established organic vegetable gardens in nine rural schools, promoting sustainable farming practices, food security, and income generation. 

Provided vulnerable farmers with tools, seeds, fertilizers, and training to enhance food security and income from surplus produce.
Supported 56 households with farm inputs during the 2023 long rains season and 100 households in 2022, improving food security for vulnerable farmers.

The program now continues as a community farm inputs store providing inputs and equipment on revolving credit basis to improve sustainability. 

 A partnership with Techlit Africa that introduced digital literacy instruction in 2 schools in Nambale, Busia county.

Established on September 27, 2007, Grow Against Poverty (GAP) Kenya is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) with registration certificate number OP. 218/051/2007/4760. Based in Busia County, GAP Kenya is committed to alleviating poverty through sustainable, community-driven initiatives aimed at empowering women, youth, and marginalized populations. The organization is authorized to operate in Busia, Kakamega, and Machakos counties, with key thematic areas focusing on Education, Health, Environment, Micro-finance, Technology & ICT, Peace Promotion, Gender Issues, Agriculture, and Governance.

GAP - Kenya tailors its programs to address the unique needs of rural communities, focusing on sustainable development and long-term impact. Through partnerships with schools, communities, and local stakeholders, the organization delivers interventions that tackle poverty, exclusion, and inequality, ensuring community ownership and sustainability.
